Bundeena Information

Bundeena and Maianbar located on the Cronulla Coast in Southern Sydney, offer visitors a quick and easy escape from the fast pace of the city to a setting of secluded bays, beaches, and bushland.

Bundeena takes its name from an Aboriginal word meaning "noise like thunder" and has a distinct history. You will find traces of the original inhabitants, the Dharawal people, in rock carvings and middens(seafood shell piles).

There are four beaches within easy walking distance of the centre of Bundeena. Bonnie Vale Beach within the Royal National Park has a large car park, picnic tables, barbeques, campgrounds, and toilet facilities. Kayak rentals are available on the beach.

In the winter and spring months, you can catch a glimpse of the whale migration from the Coast Track, along the cliff tops just east of Bundeena.
There is a range of options to feed the hungry masses with tempting treats at the local cafes.
For a relaxed trip on a vintage ferry boat, visitors will enjoy a scenic 20 minute ride across Port Hacking between Cronulla and Bundeena. Ferries depart on the half hour from the public wharf at Gunnamatta Bay, located a short five minute walk from the Cronulla Train Station.

Superstitions in my hometown

In my country, there are a lot of superstitions. For example, if you hit a black cat when you are driving, that means you will be very unlucky the whole day.

People are very mindful of numbers in my country. The number "4" has the same pronunciation as "die" so "4" is usually unlucky. Some people don't like to use number "4" in their phone number or car number. On the other hand, numbers "6"and "8" indicate success and getting rich. This means you do everything very well.

It took almost 14 hours from my hometown to Australia. I was very happy once I came to Sydney. The air was fresh and the environment was beautiful. That time, I just stayed in Sydney for one month and then went back to China until last May. Then, I came back and really started my new life in Sydney. Anyway, I hope that my English will improve after this course.
